The South East Queensland Regional Plan 2009–2031 and the associated regulatory provisions were released on Tuesday 28 July 2009. This plan supersedes the previous South East Queensland Regional Plan 2005-2026 and follows an extensive review and consultation process.

The SEQ Regional Plan 2009-2031 remains in effect under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009. The next review of the plan is anticipated in 2014. The plan will be updated as part of this review to reflect the requirements of the new Act.
