The department publishes information on population trends including:
Information on population trends is released in a number of formats including population reports containing detailed analysis of trends over time, quarterly reports on the latest trends, and summary fact sheets for Queensland's local government areas and planning regions. ProjectionsThe department publishes population projections twice during the five-year intercensal period. It also publishes household projections. The latest release population projections (2008 edition) contains total projections for the low, medium and high series for reformed local government areas, as well as projections for broad age groups. Projections for pre-reformed local government areas, statistical local areas and the full range of age groups are available on request from the Planning Information and Forecasting Unit. The department also produces household projections for local government areas. Projections for statistical divisions and the state are available from the Office of Economic and Statistical Research. The department determines population projections for small areas such as local government areas and statistical local areas. These are based on projections for broader areas, namely statistical divisions and Queensland. Statistical divisions and state projections are available from the Office of Economic and Statistical Research. The 2006 series local government area projections, including projections for broad age groups, are also available. Latest household projections for local government areas and regional planning project areas in Queensland are available by household type by 5 year groups for the period 2001-2026. CensusA wide range of information is available from the five-yearly population census, conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). Census fact sheets are four-page summaries of population characteristics of local government areas in Queensland. TrendsPopulation and housing fact sheets provide a summary of population trends in local government areas and planning regions. Population updates are brief reports that present analysis and commentary of recent population change in Queensland and analyse the change in the Australian context. They are published to coincide with new data released from the ABS. Population Growth - Highlights and Trends provides more detailed analysis and information.
