Plumbers licencing

To undertake plumbing and drainage work, you must have a current Queensland licence or endorsements that authorise you to undertake the particular work. Find information on current requirements.

On-site sewerage

On-site sewerage facilities are used for the treatment of domestic sewage on premises in unsewered areas. Our department issues appovals to manuafacturers of these facilities. Information for home owners and manufacturers can be found in this section.

Greywater use

Greywater may be used in sewered and unsewered areas for irrigating lawns and gardens. From 1 January 2008, appropriately treated greywater can be used for other purposes ... find out more about these changes.

Greywater Treatment Plants are approved by the department and the Queensland Plumbing and Wastewater Code provides the effluent quality criteria for the particular use.

Saving water and energy

Saving water and energy is everyone's responsibility. Read about water saving targets which apply to applications lodged for the construction of new homes from 1 January 2007. Also find out about rebates, water and energy saving techniques and devices, council water restrictions and check out the links to other websites with water saving information.

Sub-meters

From 1 January 2008 sub-meters will be required in any new premises drawing water from the water service provider for separate lots in any type of building under a community title scheme, including common property, and all rented or leased sole occupancy units in class 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 new buildings.
