Benefits

A number of stakeholders can be involved in any development in Queensland. While initially intended to assist applicants, the Smart eDA initiative will also provide flow-on benefits to government and the community.

Applicants

Applicants will have improved efficiency with:

  • quick electronic lodgment of development applications
  • easy, online communication with the assessment manager and referral agencies
  • immediate access to a wide range of agency planning information to help prepare applications
  • a single point for applicants to lodge and track their applications through to a decision
  • better access to state agency and local government information
  • a higher quality of application
  • reduction in information requests
  • Integrated Development Assessment System (IDAS) forms that are easier to navigate and fill in
  • automatic population of some parts of the form
  • reduction in paper dependency

Community

The community will have the ability to view development approvals and applications online. They will also be able to lodge submissions in relation to applications.

Developers

Developers will have a more streamlined, transparent and consistent IDAS process, reducing timeframes and saving money.

Assessment managers and state government referral agencies

State government agencies will have better collaboration, process and information management including improved efficiency through:

  • a higher quality of application
  • a reduction in the number of information requests
  • improved information collection and reporting to the state
  • a reduction in resource requirements to input application details.
