  • planning for the impact of climate change on urban growth, industrial development and the built environment

  • leading whole-of-government approaches to land use, major project developments and infrastructure policy planning, coordination and delivery

Towards Q2: Tomorrow's Queensland

The Queensland Government’s Toward Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland sets a 2020 vision for Queensland framed around five ambitions: strong, green, smart, healthy and fair.

The Department of Infrastructure and Planning has been nominated as lead agency for:
  • Green – Protect 50% more land for nature conservation and public recreation.

The department is also a contributing agency for:
  • Strong – Queensland is Australia’s strongest economy with infrastructure that anticipates growth
  • Green – Cut by one third Queenslander’s carbon foot print, with reduced car and electricity use
  • Healthy – Cut by one third obesity, smoking, heavy drinking and unsafe sun exposure.
