Application
  • Form 1: development application
  • Form 2 : request to change or modify an existing approval.

These forms apply across the state regardless of:

  • the nature of the proposed development
  • the location of the proposed development
  • the entity acting as assessment.

Templates are available for when owner’s consent is required. Refer to IDAS Implementation Note No 4 for more information on owner's consent.

Completion

It is recommended that applicants complete the e-form versions of the forms where possible. The e-forms reduce completion time by ensuring that only the questions relevant to the proposal are presented.

Adobe Reader version 7 or higher is required to use the eforms. It can be downloaded free from the Adobe website.

When complete, e-forms must be printed and manually lodged with the assessment manger. E-forms can be saved locally and reopened for updating before lodgement.

Static PDF versions of the forms are also available. These must be printed and all questions completed manually.

Alternatively e-forms are also incorporated into the Smart eDA service. Smart eDA transforms the current paper-based IDAS process into an interactive, internet-based process.

It delivers time and cost savings in the development assessment process through transmission of information electronically. Smart eDA assists applicants to:

  • prepare and lodge development applications online
  • track the progress of an application

Additionally, it supports communication between stakeholders including applicants, assessment managers, the community and referral agencies.

Smart eDA allows users to prepare an application for IDAS development in any council area in Queensland. Applications may be lodged using Smart eDA to Redland City Council where Redland is the Assessment Manager. Applicants who have lodged electronically may refer applications using Smart eDA to Referral Agencies.

Where online lodgement is not available, applicants can prepare their application using Smart eDA. When complete, the application must be printed and lodged manually with the assessment manger.

Amended forms

Whenever IDAS application forms are amended, a 20 business day transition period applies. During the transition period the superseded forms will still be accepted by assessment managers, however, applicants are encouraged to use the most up to date forms.

Hard copies

Hard copies of the IDAS forms are not available from the department. Hard copies are available from:

  • local governments
  • private building certifiers
  • IDAS state agencies.
