Sound Organisational Leadership Information Disk (SOLID) has been developed in conjunction with the Open Learning Institute of TAFE to enhance the awareness of effective organisation practices, build administrative capacity with Aboriginal Shires and Island Councils and encourage best practice service delivery.

SOLID is a valuable tool for Councils which are developing their procedures policies and accountability frameworks. It is equally relevant to those councils which already have procedures in place. This CD is one way the State Government is helping Aboriginal Shires transition to full shire status and assists Island Councils through the Community Governance Improvement Strategy.

SOLID operates as a virtual office. At the click of a button, users can access information as varied as stationery templates, style guides, file registers, leave application forms and project management plans. This CD is a great starting point for Councils and has been prepared for ease of use in the following format:

• General Administration - documents relating to administration and general matters
• Employment and training - all documents dealing with employee issues as well as a sample job description
• Reporting - documents to assist with reporting and Local Government policy templates
• Information Management - documents relating to managing paper-based files and computer files.
