Community governance improvement

The goal of the Community Governance Improvement Strategy (CGIS) is to help Indigenous Councils achieve sustainable, good governance to enable effective service delivery.

The CGIS was evaluated in 2006 and the following four objectives were identified:

  1. Improved human resource capacities
  2. Improved business performance and good governance
  3. Sustainability by increasing collaborative opportunities to improve council services
  4. More effective engagement with stakeholders including the community and government.

CGIS aims to achieve these objectives through a range of activities including the Sound Organsational Leadership Information Disk (SOLID).
