| Planning Reform Reference Panel |
|
In August 2007 the Queensland Government launched its agenda for planning reform after extensive statewide stakeholder consultation in 2006 and 2007. This program contains 80 specific actions delivering legislative, operational and cultural change, including improvements to the Integrated Planning Act 1997 (IPA) and initiatives to streamline planning processes in Queensland. The Department of Infrastructure and Planning (DIP) established the Planning Reform Reference Panel to provide guidance on implementation. The panel consists of planning, industry, local government and community representatives, working collaboratively to review and provide feedback on the implementation of changes identified in the reform agenda. Legislative changes are due to go through Parliament in 2008. A summary of key topics discussed at panel meetings and updates on related reform initiatives will be published through a regular Planning Reform Reference Panel communiqué. The summary of discussions will be issued to panel members after each meeting and will be emailed to subscribers of the DIP IPA email update service.
