With the increasing urbanisation of rural areas, conflict can arise between existing poultry farms and residents. Issues such as poultry farm odour and dust emissions are a major concern.

The Poultry Farm Information Assessment Sheet ( 508 KB) has been produced for the use of local governments, the community and applicants. It is designed for use by assessment officers and the poultry industry to:

• ensure new poultry farms are established in locations suitable to their operational requirements and long term viability
• minimise the impact of poultry farms on incompatible and sensitive land uses and the environment
• ensure correct information is submitted at the start of the development application process to expedite the assessment and determination of the development application.

To support the Poultry Farm Information Assessment Sheet, three maps of South East Queensland have been produced. These maps will require further refinement on an individual property basis, and are correct at the time of publishing. These maps illustrate:

• hard constraints for location of new poultry farms ( 326 KB)
• soft constraints for location of new poultry farms ( 570 KB)
• combined soft and hard constraints for location of new poultry farms ( 620 KB)
