The fire safety standard under the Queensland Development Code specifies acceptable solutions to achieve the safe evacuation of occupants in budget accommodation buildings. The standard includes provisions which address:
The application of these provisions depends on the size, height and construction of the building. It is the obligation of the building owner to ensure that their building complies with the Fire Safety Standard. RegistrationOperators of supported accommodation facilities (any service which also provides personal care services) must have applied for registration by 23 August 2003. Boarding house or aged rental facility operators (any service which provides accommodation only or accommodation and food services) must have applied by 23 August 2004. |
