The Queensland Government has committed $4 million to upgrade the Whitsunday Coast Airport near Proserpine.

The Department of Infrastructure and Planning is facilitating the delivery of the airport upgrade which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010.

In September 2009 a scoping study was completed which determined the priority works to be implemented in 2010. The project will provide significant benefit to the local tourism industry.
