The Queensland Government invited Expressions of Interest for infrastructure upgrades and operational improvements to provide improved domestic air services and international air charter access to the Whitsunday region at either Whitsunday Coast (Proserpine) Airport or Laguna Whitsunday Airport.

The competitive process will be in two stages:

• Stage 1: Expressions of Interest
• Stage 2: Detailed Proposal from short-listed bidders.

Expression of Interest submissions for the Whitsunday Coast Airport project closed on 12 November 2007.
