Residential services legislation

The new residential services legislation defines a residential accommodation service. It establishes systems for the registration and accreditation of residential services to ensure the services are conducted at an appropriate standard.

Guidance on local laws and building legislation associated with the residential services legislation is available for building certifiers and local government. However, the department does not administer any of the new residential services legislation, nor does it have a legislative role in this regard.

Any enquiries regarding the following topics should be directed to the respective agencies.
