Queensland Development Code

Purpose

The Queensland Development Code consolidates Queensland-specific building standards into a single document. The code covers Queensland matters outside the scope of, and in addition to, the Building Code of Australia, such as requirements for private health facilities.

Changes to the Queensland Development Code

New parts of the code effective from 1 January 2008

From 1 January 2008, new water saving measures apply aimed at preserving our drinking water supplies. These include:

  • sub-metering of new multi-unit residential and non-residential premises
  • expanding the allowable uses of treated greywater
  • retrofitting water efficient devices and toilets in residential premises as part of major renovations
  • increased water efficiency in new commercial and industrial buildings
  • treated blackwater trials.
